"creating a love for dance and a lifetime of memories."

Dance Classes

The experienced instructors at Ms. Patricia’s strive to develop each child’s natural abilities and also develop in them a love of movement and a love of dance that will last a lifetime.  A wide range of classes are offered from the Creative Movement Class for 2 ½ year olds, to ballet, tap, jazz, pre-pointe and pointe classes for older students.

Beginners

Beginner students start at 2 ½ year olds.  The curriculum for pre-school beginners is structured specifically for the needs of this age group.  Classes are fun while presenting the basic dance steps and concepts such as up, down, right, left, forward, backward, high and low.  Repetition is a large part of learning at this stage.  Lively warm-up routines create confidence and teach musical timing.  Lessons start with basic steps such as plies, releves, jumps, hops, leaps, gallops, pointing toes, tapping toes, heals, shuffle, brush, side step while also teaching the concept of right and left, stop and go, etc.  Each movement is taught with songs, games, visual aids and props.

Primary

Ballet, tap and jazz classes are available for primary students.  As students graduate to more advances levels, the attention-to-detail increases proportionally.  Not only are the students increasing the knowledge of steps and techniques, they are learning the art of performing.  At this level increased emphasis is placed on correct posture, body control, and  remembering dance step sequences.

Intermediate & Advanced

Students at this level tend to take class much more seriously.  Students work to improve movements, fluidity, and work together as a group.

Pointe

Participation in a pointe class is approved after a consultation between the parents and instructor.  This class is only available to students at the intermediate and advanced levels.  Students who are physically ready for the challenge will learn to strengthen their muscles, proper positions, and how to care for their feet and their shoes.  This class requires dedication and practice.
